I rarely write New Years resolutions, and no, this is not because I believe we should be be making changes and setting goals constantly, nothing as great I am afraid, it is simply a matter of not wanting to get egg on my face.
That being said, this year I have decided to set one down and in public too so that you can all have a little slap if I fail
However, this is not just a New Year resolution for me, I want you to take part too.
Now you all know that one of Ed’s things is Market Leadership, and I stand behind him 100% here, getting yourself out there, writing, tweeting etc. is key to becoming a leader in any market, and as many of you probably know I don’t put myself out there a lot.
True, I write a lot of content for The Immediate Edge, but I generally stay behind those closed walls with an occasional foray into The Challenge, the odd tweet, and a few facebook updates.
This year however I want things to be a little different.
As you can see (well you are here) I have ressurected my Blog. Ok, it’s not pretty yet but in the spirit of ‘Just getting it out there’ I have put it up and will hopefully be making some design changes soon.
But the main thing here is I have resolved to put out at least one public thing a day be it a tweet, a facebook update, a podcast, a video, or indeed a blog post.
And you should too.
What can you give to your niche every day? Can you find an interesting story, site, service that you can tell your followers about that is GENUINLY interesting.
Please note, I said genuinely interesting, and this is the key.
I only follow 39 people on Twitter. The reason the number is so few is because I only follow people who put out content that is interesting to me, I don’t want to read about people’s cats, health, eating habbits, or what they watched on TV.
Sure, I follow a few friends who tweet those kind of messages, but they are my friends and that is ok, but in a business context I don’t want to see hundreds of sales pitches, affiliate pimps, irrelevant web site links, I want what I follow to be focussed on the niches I am interested in, and you should too.
Don’t get me wrong I have been guilty enough of letting personal rants spill over into Twitter (although usually getting the problem solved due to my follower count) but really that is not the way to go.
So my resolution from this day on is one piece of content accross any platform (even Google +) every day, give it a go in your niche.
(oh, and I am trying for 10,000 steps a day too)
